The Manager of Ulrich Team was hoping more result. We were targeting the top 9 GC and a Victory.
13th of the GC only 3rd second from the top 9 and a 2nd place at the last stage left a bit of amertume for Ulrich team.
After a promising prologue, our leader Bartosz wasn't a favourite but more an outsider and he reached a honorable 26th, a good place for a hilly sprinter but far away from the specialist.
The team was full of hope for the 1st stage (hoping a top 10 to grap some precious seconds). Unfortunately a crashed happened and the young lead out sprinter was down and all the lead out was desoriented and Bartosz wasn't able to find for a top 10 or less (17th).
Despite this incident Ulrich Manager tried to re-motivated the team and changed all the lead out. Bartosz reached the top10 (9th) despite the lack of motivation from the whole team during the 2nd stage.
The last stage was planned a while ago as a big goal but since the fictif depart Bartosz told to his teammates "my legs wasn't feel good at all" despite that his teammates helped a lot and he was able to dispute the sprint final and finished 2nd.
Bartosz was very disappointed post-stage concerning his form cannot understand how that possible to get an off day at the worst moment of this beautiful Giro di Sicilia. Why today! The plan was to put Bartosz in the best condition on the final ascent and to attack at the bottom to try to get a solo victory and some precious seconds for the GC but the leading team of the Giro di Sicilia had a very strong team and managed to get the GC.
Anyway Ulrich team wasn't stronger that expected but learned a lot through this tough race and wish to be at the Giro di Sicilia next year.
